Grow strong. Compete. Belong.
Kids Jiu Jitsu Classes in Norfolk, VA
Fundamental movement, real technique and the confidence that comes from doing hard things — for kids and teens ages 6 and up, built from the first class toward live rolling. The ones who want to compete have a travel team waiting for them.
01The program
Kids leave class tired, proud, and wanting to come back
Kids Brazilian jiu jitsu at CPJJ is built on movement and technique, and every class points the same way: putting it together live. Structured drilling teaches the position, then they roll against someone who is genuinely trying.
Ages 6 and up
Kids Jiu Jitsu starts at age six and runs up through the teens, at every experience level. Book a free trial and we will place your child in the right class.
We are raising kids who want the best version of themselves — kids who show up, work hard, smile at adversity, and prove to themselves what they are capable of. None of that stays on the mats.

02What they build
Six things that follow them home
-
01
Confidence
Growing self-esteem comes from doing hard things in front of other people and finding out you can. Jiu jitsu supplies that weekly.
-
02
Discipline
Families notice greater discipline, fitness and social skills — usually before they notice any technique.
-
03
Focus
Structured drilling asks a child to hold one idea in their head for a few minutes at a time. That skill is not confined to the mats.
-
04
Respect
Kids learn to respect themselves and others. Training with a partner who can be hurt teaches that faster than being told.
-
05
Coordination
Fundamental movement is the base of the program — balance, grip, falling safely, and moving a body that keeps changing size.
-
06
Resilience
Losing a round, resetting and going again is the whole lesson. Confidence and resilience are built in the same place.
03For parents
What you should expect as a parent
Parents appreciate our commitment to student development both on and off the mats. Here is the honest version of what the first month looks like.
Day one
Your child joins a class of kids who are there to train. No experience is needed and nothing is bought in advance — comfortable athletic clothing is enough, or a gi if they already have one.
Confidence is the outcome, not the entry fee
Kids do not arrive confident; they leave that way. Coaches hold every child to the same standard and give them the reps to meet it, which is where self-belief actually comes from — earning it in front of the room.
04Kids competition
There is a separate team
for the kids who want the bracket
The travel team is its own program, not an extension of this class — four sessions a week, at least six tournaments a year, and travel from the East Coast to the West Coast. Every child on it started right here in the regular kids class.
