A separate team. A separate standard.
Kids Competition Team in Norfolk, VA
The travel team is the competition side of the kids program, and it is its own commitment — four sessions a week and at least six tournaments a year. Clayton takes these athletes on the road, East Coast to West Coast, to test what they have built against the best kids in their bracket.
01The travel team
The kids who compete,
and what it takes to join them
Every child in the regular kids program is welcome to stay exactly where they are. The travel team is for the ones who want the bracket — and it asks for more mat time, more tournaments and more from the family.

01
Coast to coast
This is a genuine travel team, not a local-only club. The team competes across the country, from East Coast events to West Coast mats, and the travel is part of what makes these kids athletes.
-
02
Six competitions a year, minimum
To hold a place on the team your child needs to be able to compete at least six times a year. Competing is the point of the team — it is how the training gets tested and how the athlete actually improves.

03
Four days a week, minimum
Travel team trains Monday through Thursday, 4:00 to 5:00 PM, and team members are expected at all four. That volume is what separates a kid who competes from a kid who trains.

Placement is a coaching decision
There is no sign-up form for the travel team. Kids start in the regular program, and a coach tells you when they are ready.
Start in the regular kids program
Every travel team athlete came up through the regular class first. Book a free trial, get your child on the mats, and let the coaching staff see them train.
Ask a coach
Clayton looks at where your child is technically, whether they actually want it, and whether the family can carry the schedule and the travel. If they are not ready yet, you will be told exactly what to work on.
